Don't miss it! Don't even be late!
It's dollars for donuts at our state fair,
It's the best Stair Fair in our state!
I grew up going to the state fair and watching the movie State Fair so I can't help but break into song with a smile on my face when it's state fair time. We went to the fair with my sister Becky, her two girls, Kaylee and Gabby, and just before we left we met up with my sister Marla, her roommate, Tiffany, my brother, Chris, and his old mission companion, Steven (who Kaylee calls her Bestest bestest boy).
The first couple hours we just walked around and looked at exhibits etc. Roman hadn't had a nap all day, and he finally conked out in the stroller for about 45 minutes.
After looking at the exhibits we went and saw the animals. Roman liked the baby pigs, but that doesn't mean he wanted to touch one!
They have this cool area called "Little Hands Helping on the Farm." The kids go in and put on aprons and get little baskets then they go through all these different rooms and "help" on the farm. They had to get feed and feed the (stuffed) cow. Then they had to milk the cow. After that they went out and picked apples. Then they planted "seeds" after which they had to go pick their vegetables. They collected eggs from the Hens, Kaylee was scared that they were real at first. After that they drove the tractors (trikes) with their hay, combed the (stuffed) sheep then they had to go to market and sell their crops. They gave them pretend money that they got to go into a store and buy a real snack with. Roman got an apple, Kaylee got a Root beer flavored Milk (hmm, what is wrong with that sentence. . .yes, Root beer flavored milk. . .apparently she liked it) and Gabby got crackers. They had a lot of fun doing it.

Roman rode a horse for the first time. I know it's just going in a circle, but he had so much fun. There was a little girl on the horse behind him that looked like she was about 2, and she was freaking out, screaming, crying. Roman kept looking back at her like "What are you crying for?" He was all smiles.
I love this picture. He was a total natural. He had one hand on the horn the other on the saddle beside him. He didn't even care that I was next to him, he didn't want me to touch him, he was doing it himself (ever since he started walking he has had this independent streak that is about 5 miles wide, he wants to do everything himself!!)
Lastly we went on the Giant slide. The kids loved it. Each of the kids went down twice, with different people each time. Roman went with me the first time, and Marla the second. Roman was laughing as went down the slide, and he got up with a huge smile on his face. As soon as we got to the bottom the first time he got up and wanted to climb up the slide (like he does with his little slide at home).
(Marla and Gabby are coming up behind us in the last picture)
He had just as much fun the second time with Marla!
What a fun day! Can't wait for next year!
ooooh I'm jealous, they wouldn't let us take Colby down the slide because of height restrictions!
