Family Fun day at This is the Place State Park

I am not sure if it was brave, crazy, or just wanting Roman to have a good time, but we decided to go to the Family Fun day at This is the Place State Park. We went last year, and it was crazy, yes, but Roman had a GREAT time. So we decided to brave it again and I talked my sister Becky and my friend Reagan into coming and bringing their girls.

We got there as it started at 10:00 am. I am so glad that we did. Last year it wasn't too busy at first and just got crazier the later it got. This year it pretty much started out crazy. Roman was able to do some fun things though and was so sad when we had to leave.

The first thing that he saw were the dinosaur eggs. He remembered them from last year. You had to dig the dinosaur out of the egg. This year they had a hammer though so you hit the egg with the hammer then dug the dinosaur out. It was much faster, not so hard, but he was so excited about his little dinosaur.

We painted an elephant (that we didn't get any pictures of), decorated a bag for him to carry his crafts around in, then he found a top. He saw it spinning and he loves to spin, so of course he was super excited about that. He colored then had to show everyone his top. He was so proud!

We went over and made a little covered wagon (Roman was disappointed that the wheels didn't turn, he kept trying to turn the wheels while the glue was drying. Then they had a magician that was doing a show so we sat down and watched the show for a bit.
Roman was also very insistent that he wanted to ride the train. He always wants to ride the train so this was no surprise. The bummer about the train...you had to get off at every...single...stop! We didn't know that when we got ON the train.

The first stop was Brigham Young's Forrest Farmhouse. We got off and saw that they had bounce houses and things there, so we wandered over, waited in line for about 15 minutes (moved a few feet) and decided they didn't need to jump. So we went and got back in line for the train.

We finally got back on the train. (Good thing that just riding the train was worth the wait for Roman.)

The next stop was the Huntsman Hotel, ZCMI Mercantile, downtown area. Again we had to get off. Kaylee and Gabby really wanted to go into the ZCMI store to get a sucker. After we were done there my friend Reagan noticed a sign on the building just behind the mercantile that said photo's. She went to investigate and found that they did the old style pictures there. So Reagan did a picture with her girls, we did one of Roman, and Becky had one taken of her girls.

(Sorry I know this is a little blurry, I just took a picture of the picture because I didn't want to go all the way down to the basement to scan it!)
Roman wanted to do so many more things, but it was already 1:30 in the afternoon and I was TIRED! So we went to the little playhouses (because they are another of Roman's favorite area's to play at This is the Place). It was crazy, busy, but Roman had such a great time, it made it all worth it.

  1. Wow--I'm tired just reading about all your fun. Those dinosaur eggs look cool. We didn't see them last time we went.
