Spencer's friend Mike and his family met us there and we went to dinner with them then they wanted to go play on the huge sand hill across from the entrance to Arches National Park. The past few times we have come near sand Roman has FREAKED OUT! Remember when we went to Arches in May? I do. If you want to see how much he hated the sand check it out here. (About half way down the post). He hated it. When we went to put him down in the sand he was lifting his feet up to avoid touching the sand.
Then Spencer showed him that he could crush the "rocks" with his hand and he decided that it was okay, maybe even fun.
We saw a beautiful sunset as we were getting ready to leave to go back to our campgrounds.
The next morning (Saturday) we got up and went into Arches. We went to the visitors center on our way in and Roman was riding the sheep.
We went up to the Devil's Garden area and we were just going to go to landscape arch then see how we were doing then. Spencer really wanted to take Roman to see Wall Arch that broke last year since we didn't make it that far in May when we went.
(Here they are checking out where Wall Arch used to be.)
Since Spencer was still feeling good with Roman on his back, we kept going. When we got to Navajo Arch we let Roman out of the backpack to walk a little.
Taking a break from all the walking.
We finally loaded him back into the backpack and he actually wasn't thrilled to get back in, but we didn't want him walking by himself on the slick rock and near ledges.
When we got back to the trailhead Roman wanted to wash off his head in the water fountain.
Next we went to Skyline Arch to have lunch and to play on the bolders.
The last thing we did in Arches was Sand Dune Arch. Again, we didn't know how Roman would feel about the sand but check him out???? It helped that there was a cute little family that were there burying each other in the sand, and they let Roman borrow a little shovel, and he was just having so much fun playing in the sand. He kept asking to go back to the sand.
All that going wiped Roman out and we went back for a nap before dinner. We went to dinner in Moab again then back to the Sand hill to play with our friends again before bed.
Roman's little friend Emery was helping me help Roman up the hill. Roman would go up then slide down on his bum.
Roman loved sleeping on his "Balloon Bed" (Air Mattress), Playing with his friends (Spencer's friend Mike's kids) and playing in the sand. It made for a few fun, crazy weekend.
