To my boy

Dear Roman,

This year has been such a year for you. I meant to write you a letter around your birthday and life just got so busy. You have grown from a baby to a boy. You bring so much light to our lives every day. You are so full of energy and personality. You love to learn, and you are just so happy.

It has only been 1 year since you learned to walk. Really, it's only been a year? Now we can't slow you down. We love dreaming about your future, because it's so bright, you have so many things that you can do. We often wonder if you will work with airplanes because you like watching the planes. You can spot a plane literally miles away.

Maybe you'll be an accountant like Daddy, you love numbers. But you also love letters, maybe you'll be a writer. The other day we were reading "Oh the places you'll go" by Dr Seuss and I couldn't help but wonder what great things you will do.

You are so smart! You know all your letters, all their sounds, you can count to and identify numbers up to 20, you know your shapes and colors and are starting to learn to put letters together to form words both reading and writing. You know about 40 states and can point them out on a map. When you are being silly you will tell me that you are from another state, but you know that you live in Utah. You love doing workbooks, we could do them for hours every day if Mommy didn't get tired. I am always done long before you are.

You are so outgoing, until you decide to be shy then you tell me "I be shy Mommy." As if it's something you just decided. You are also very independent. You like to tell me "No, I do it all by the self." When you want to do things yourself. Even with your independence you aren't afraid to ask for help when you need it (especially when you are stuck on the bed, or can't reach what you want.)

One of your favorite places to go is the zoo. We can go every week and you never tire of it. Your favorite animal is still the Giraffe but you love the Elephants (that you call Humma's) and you are fascinated by the bears because you saw them swimming once. You can identify almost every animal at the zoo and it always surprises me that you remember where all the animals are. (And where the ice cream, carousel and train are).

You love being with other kids. Especially your cousins Kaylee and Gabby. If we ask you a question where a person is the answer you will almost always answer "KaykeeGabby" all one word. Whether it's applicable or not. For example, we'll ask which bathroom you want to use and you will say "KaykeeGabby's." "Who do you want to say prayer tonight?" "KaykeeGabby" and so on.

You love reading books, I am always amazed how with so much energy you can sit and read story after story. Even the ones that you already know, seem to amaze you every time.

You truely are a joy to be around (when you aren't throwing tantrums, but you're two). We love having you in our family and love watching you become the person you are going to be. You are growing into an amazing little man.

I love you so very much!

Love,

Mom
