Freedom Days Balloon Fest

This morning we got up WAY too early to go to the Balloon Festival in Provo at their Freedom Days Celebration. The Balloon Festival started at 6:30 so we left our house around 6:00. We got there around 6:30 but we had a hard time finding parking. By the time we were parked and to the field that they were launching the balloons most of them were inflated. We watched a few inflate as we were looking for Becky, Marla, Kaylee and Gabby. Roman's favorite was the Piggy Bank balloon for Bank of American Fork. They have some games that they usually play after the balloons are in the air to entertain the crowd. The first is game was called "The Hare and the Hounds" Where one balloon is the Hare and trying to get away from the other balloons while they are trying to get it. The next was a target drop where they tried to drop bean bags onto a target, and lastly they were trying to joust some helium balloons that were set up around the target. Well, a few balloons were able to come back in to try to drop the bean bags and to try to joust the balloons, but the winds were not working in their favor (There wasn't any, that was the problem) so they couldn't get back over to the field. Most of the balloons just ended up going toward Provo Canyon and kind of stalled out there (The plan was to catch the winds coming out of the canyon to push them back toward the field). We still had so much fun watching the balloons. It ended a bit early because they really couldn't do anything more. We are still glad we got up early to see the "Great Big Balloons."

Roman was a little nervous when they would blow the hot air up into the balloons.
